Matchday 10 @ Sporting Iowa (IA)
A beautiful, but chilly early morning in Nebraska.
Headed down to Papillion LaVista Foundation Field (Papillion, NE) to scout Gretna Elite Academy’s 09s as they took on Eclipse North. We would match up against Gretna on this same field tomorrow, and I wanted to get a look at the Omaha team in order to best prep what I’m sure is going to be a tough game for us.
Gretna is athletic. Three very strong forwards, and a very athletic midfield trio. I was also very impressed with one of their center backs - speedy and very clean on the ball.
They are going to be dangerous on attack, but I don’t think they can stop us from scoring.
Eclipse North won the game 1-0, but Gretna was the better team on the day for sure.
Back to the hotel to meet up with Coco, Mickey, and JB to start this fall’s Performance Reviews, then a little R&R before heading to the field to take on Sporting Iowa. We’ll stick around to watch the first half of the 08’s game vs Sporting Iowa’s 08s immediately following our game, then head to The Spaghetti Works in downtown Omaha for a team dinner.
