Matchday 2 @ SLSG Green
Watched SLSG Green play Sporting BV (KS) yesterday afternoon. Didn’t think either team was a huge threat to us, but been around long enough to know that overconfidence is never a good thing.
Out the hotel door at 5:45AM, quick stop at Dunkin’ Donuts for the world’s best coffee, then a 30-min drive to the fields. Girls were asked to be ready to go by 7:15AM on the field for our 8AM game, so I was plenty early.
My quiet time to sort out the line up.

Giving all players the chance to start a game on these 2-game weekends.
Thought there might be a bunch of sleepyheads this morning, so planned a fun, active warm-up to get them going.
A bunch of the girls arrived late to the fields though, so things were a bit chaotic and rushed. Not a great start to the morning.
When all was said and done, it was another hard-fought game. We were the better team on the field, but SLSG Green proved athletic and tough.
We talk about the importance of set pieces all the time, and how many times these tip the scale in tight, competitive games.
Today was a great example as we got the game winner with 5 minutes left to play off a corner kick. Terrific service into the danger area by Kenny, and sheer attitude and desire by Money to attack the ball and finish it.
It would have been really disappointing to leave the weekend with 2 x 0-0 ties, so this goal was huge for us.
All in all, content to head home after opening weekend with 4 points.
